Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of punishment and appreciation on employee work discipline at PT. Doc And Shipping Surabaya. The sampling technique was determined by purposive sampling by distributing questionnaires to employees of PT. Doc And Shipping Surabaya which has a service period of more than 5 years in several parts of work such as finance, personnel, marketing, IT, warehouse, production, production renwas, the project manager whose working period is more than 5 years. The analytical method used is the validity test method, reliability test, classic assumption test, t test, f test, linear regression analysis. From the analysis results of test the validity of data collection in the form of a questionnaire prepared already comply with valid or invalid as well as reliability testing coefficient (R) is 0.610 or close to 1 means that the relationship between the independent variables which include X1 (penalty) and X2 ( award) the dependent variable is strong discipline in the same direction and vice versa. Simultaneous determination coefficient (R2)is equal to 0.660 or 66%. This means that the rise and fall of the dependent variable that is discipline is influenced by the independent variable which includes X1 (punishment) and X2 (award) of 66% and the remaining 34% is influenced by other variables outside this study. From the partial hypothesis test it turns out that both the independent variable X1 (penalty) and X2 (award) significantly influence the improvement of discipline.
