Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of the work environment, employee commitment to employee performance through the work discipline of the finishing section of PT. Ecco Tannery Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the direct effect between work environment variables and employee commitment variables on employee performance variables, indirect effects between work environment variables and employee commitment variables on employee performance variables through work discipline variables as intervening variables. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach namely, research that focuses on testing hypotheses with statistical method analysis tools and produce conclusions. The population of this study is 75 people who are employees of the finishing department of PT. Ecco Tannery Indonesia with a sample of 75 people using total sampling. Data collection methods are carried out with documentation and questionnaires. While the data analysis is done through t test to determine the direct influence and path analysis, to determine the indirect effect of using SPSS 21.0 for windows. Based on the results of path analysis it is known that the effect of the work environment variables and employee commitment variables on employee performance variables, namely, the work environment variable has a direct influence of 0.246 and the commitment variable has a direct influence of 0.944, work discipline as an intervening variable has an influence of 0.439 on employee performance variables. While the work environment through work discipline to influence employee performance is 0.166 while employee commitment if through work discipline to influence employee performance is known to be 0.113. Based on this, it can be seen that the influence of the work environment and employee commitment to performance will be greater if through work discipline. Based on the results of the determination coefficient (R square) of 0.015 in the dependent variable of work discipline, it means that the percentage of the influence of the work environment and employee commitment to performance through work discipline is 1.5%. The coefficient of determination is 0.958 for the dependent variable of performance, meaning that the percentage of influence of the work environment, commitment and work discipline on employee performance is 95.8% and based on the results of multiple regression also shows the results that the work environment, employee commitment and discipline have a positive influence on employee performance.
