Abstract

Cooperative learning model is one of plenty innovative learning models. It is highly hoped that through the application of cooperative learning model, students can be more active during the study process and able to stimulate their creative thinking skill. The cooperative learning model itself is divided into several types, in which every type has different characteristics with itsadvantages and disadvantages. Among those types of cooperative learning model, Time Token Type and Think Pair Share (TPS) Type can be used by the teachers as an alternative way in teaching IPS. This research aims to find out the effectof cooperative learning Time Token and Think Pair Share Type toward the creative thinking skill of the fifth grade students in Hang Tuah IX Sidoarjo elementary school. The plan of this research is categorized as experimental research, which is designed with pre-test and post-test research. The subject of this research is 90 fifth grade students in Hang Tuah IX Sidoarjo, taken from three classes; Va class, Vb class, and Vc class, for each experiment class and control class.The instruments that are used to collect the data covercreative thinking skill test, observation, and filling out the assessment sheet of creative thinking skill. The data analysis used SPSS v 13 software program. According to the data analysis of the research, it can be concluded that (1) the result of the RPP application of cooperative learning Time Token and Think Pair Share type towards the students’ creative thinking skill is good; (2) the learning result of creative learning skill of the students in class with cooperative learning Time Token and Think Pair Share Type is better compared to those with conventional learning model.The average score of creative learning skill test of experiment class students (cooperative learning Time Token Type) increased 28.0%. As for the experiment class (cooperative learning Think Pair Share Type) increased 30.0%. This also happened tothe test result of control class, which increased 18.0%. From those results, therefore, it can be concluded that cooperative learning Time Token Type and Think Pair Share Type have given positive effect in increasing the students’ creative thinking skill, better than conventional learning model.
